What is a voxl ?
In its simplest form, it's a virtual dedicated linux server. Based on user mode linux, it's implemented with a real linux kernel running as a process on our host server. In fact, it's almost impossible to tell it's not a real server!

What can I do with 64 megs of RAM ?
Voxls need less RAM than real machines, one of the major reasons is because disc caching is already being done on the host system. Keep in mind our RAM upgrade path is very resonably priced, ranging from an additional 32MB for $5/month to 196MB for $24/month.

What are the advatanges of a voxl over a real server?
One of the best things about a voxl is the firmware access via ssh.

What is the voxl firmware?
It's basically the BIOS for your voxl. You can use it to connect to your voxl's console, or change things such as kernel and discs.

How do I upgrade my kernel ?
When a new linux kernel is released, we make it available to you. You can ssh to your voxl's firmware and choose between any of the latest 2.4 or 2.6 linux kernels. We strenously test the new kernels before releasing them to you, but we cannot guarantee that it will work with your software / configuration.

What do I do if I changed <something> and my voxl won't boot?
Easy! Just ssh to your firmware and boot to single user mode and fix the problem. You also always have the option of reverting to a fresh installation with a few simple keystrokes.

Is there a way I can use different linux distro?
Sure, just send us a disc image! You can make an image off a running machine rather easily, and have the added advantage of not needing to reinstall software or transfer your data.
